What are some tips for selling a home on today’s market?
Selling your home when the demand for homes is low and the supply is high is not ideal, but sometimes it is a necessary evil. With mortgage rates at an all-time low, there is a chance you might be able to sell and make a decent profit.
But before you put your home on the market, there are some simple tips you should follow to make sure you get the most out of your investment.
Fix it up
You might not have the money to get the entire kitchen redone (and in this economic climate, it might not even be worth it if you did), but you can still do some little fix-ups around the house before you try to sell it. The more finished and polished your home looks to a potential buyer, the better the chances are that you will sell it.
Keep the lawn mowed
Since many of the homes on the market aren’t actually lived in while they are up for sale, the lawns get that creepy, abandoned look as the grass and weeds grow too long. This makes the home look uninviting and more like a project than a potential residence.
By keeping the lawn mowed and keeping up with general maintenance activities, you keep the curb appeal in place and have a better chance of selling.
Price to sell – but not desperately
Price your home so that it is priced to sell (in other words, low enough to be attractive to buyers) but not so low that it looks desperate. Unless your situation is desperate, there’s no reason not to be reasonable and try to make as much as you can from the sale.
