Switching car insurance made easy
Buying car insurance is not like getting married. Unlike a marriage, you are not committed to your car insurance company through sickness and health, richer or poorer—and you certainly don’t have to wait until death to part.
If you find better car insurance rates from another company, you might want to consider switching insurance companies. Here are a few tips to get you through the process.
Check out the new insurance company’s ratings
Low insurance rates are not enough of a reason to switch insurance companies. To make sure your new insurer is financially secure and able to pay claims, check their A.M. Best rating.
Make sure there is no gap
Let your new insurer know what date your current policy is paid to so you can ensure there is no gap in coverage between the time you end the old policy and take out the new policy.
Make sure the policies are similar
Before you switch auto insurance companies, be sure to look at the details of each policy and make sure that you are getting the kind of policy you want. Be sure that the limits and deductibles are similar and that the services offered by each company are comparable.
