Consider buying an umbrella policy
What is an umbrella policy and do I need one?
When comparing auto insurance companies, you should also consider the possibility of purchasing an umbrella policy.
define: umbrella policy
An umbrella policy is a supplemental insurance policy that goes into affect when you reach your limit of liability insurance.
For a relatively affordable amount per year, you may be able to purchase a high-limit personal umbrella policy that can be coordinated with your existing policy.
When you compare car insurance quotes, consider the possibility of having liability auto insurance with a set per incident limit and then adding an umbrella policy on top of that. This may be cheaper than just buying a liability auto insurance policy with a very high per incident limit itself.
