Why is Unix not used anymore?

The life of Unix

Unix does not exist anymore in mainstream computing as anything more than a relic, or some underlying code in some operating systems.

The main impact of its life can be seen in the influence it had over operating systems like Linux, which was derived from Unix. Unix also forms the underpinnings of the Macintosh operating system.

Unix is not used anymore mainly because it is not needed as technology has increased dramatically since its inception. However, the legacy of Unix has not died, and its life in that regard will live on for many years.
