What are some benefits of banking online?

Online banking provides options

Online banking can make things like paying bills, keeping updated records, and viewing transactions associated with an account much easier.

There are several standard online banking options consumers get from online banking services. The most common benefit for consumer is viewing account balances, providing an up-to-the-minute accurate picture of credits and debits, even those that are still pending.

Online bill pay is another benefit that many consumers enjoy. Oftentimes, bills can be paid one at a time, payments can be scheduled in advance, and recurring payments can be scheduled. Many creditors, like credit card companies and utilities, accept payments electronically, which makes it easier for all involved.

For creditors who do not accept electronic payments, the bank simply issues and mails a paper check – so consumers can use the service to pay friends, family, or small businesses, as well. In addition, many major utilities will issue monthly bills via email, meaning the consumer gets it sooner and paper and processing time is saved.

Another benefit to online banking is the ability for consumers to see, and even print, images of cancelled checks. Many banks offer the option to stop sending paper account statements and copies of checks, which reduces paperwork.

Another benefit, for consumers who manage their finances electronically, is the ability to download account records into financial management programs like Quicken. This ability is now available with many online banking soutions.
