Tips before you buy auto insurance
When you are ready to compare auto insurance, be sure to check the following before buying the insurance:
Price:
Get a written quote from several car insurance companies to compare rates. Make sure to get the quote in writing so that you can check for any fine print, hidden costs or other factors that may change the rate.
License:
You need to make sure that the company is licensed to provide auto insurance in your state. If they are not licensed, some shady companies may still underwrite your policy and take your money, but then not pay your claims.
Financial stability:
Through your state insurance department and independent car insurance rating agencies, check to be sure the company you are considering is financial stable.
Service:
Check on the number of consumer complaints that have been filed against the insurance company. You can find out this information from the state department of insurance.
